Vacancy for Parish Councillor

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN

that a vacancy have arisen in the Office of Councillor for the Parish Council.

If by 29th September 2020 (14 days excluding Dies non, after the date of this notice) a request for an election to fill said vacancy is made to the Returning Officer at the address below by TEN electors for the said parish, an election will be held on or by 6th May 2021 to fill the said vacancies, otherwise the vacancy will be filled by co-option.

Being a Parish Councillor is an important role as you will help to shape and control what we do for the village. The Parish Council is facing an exciting and challenging time in which we will have to balance what we can fund with what local people want.

To be a Councillor you need to:

Be over 18

A commonwealth, Irish Republic or EU citizen

Meet ONE of the following four requirements

  • Be on the Electoral Roll in Stoney Stanton, or
  • Have lived in or within 3 miles of Stoney Stanton for the last 12 months, or
  • Have occupied as owner or tenant any land or other premises for the last 12 months, or
  • Have had your principal or only place of work in Stoney Stanton for the last 12 months

Applications are by letter or email and should be with our clerk by 30th October 2020 (please include the reasons for wanting to be considered, any experience and special areas of interest you may have which you feel will be useful.
