Notice of Vacancies for Parish Councillor

We are allowed to fill these posts prior to the next elections which are less than 6 months away in May 2019. Being a Parish Councillor is an important role as you will help to shape and control what we do for the village. The Parish Council is facing an exciting and challenging time in which we will have to balance what we can fund with what local people want.

Council meets once a month and there maybe occasional meetings in between. So being a Councillor does not take much time overall. No specialist skills or knowledge are required and we will arrange training for anyone who needs it. Being a Councillor is rewarding and valuable work for our community. If you would like to talk to someone about what's involved please ask and we will arrange that.

To be a Councillor you need to:

Be over 18

A commonwealth, Irish Republic or EU citizen

Meet one of the following four requirements

  • Be on the Electoral Roll in Stoney Stanton, or
  • Have lived in or within 3 miles of Stoney Stanton for the last 12 months, or
  • Have occupied as owner or tenant any land or other premises for the last 12 months, or
  • Have had your principal or only place of work in Stoney Stanton for the last 12 months

Applications are by letter or email and should be with our clerk by 24th December 2018 and

be considered at Council on 8the January (please include the reasons for wanting to be

considered, any experience and special areas of interest you may have which you feel will be useful.
